In other news, I'm trying to decide which way I want to go for my classroom "theme"...
A color scheme?
-pink/black, too girly?
-blues?
-red/blue?
A "theme" theme?
-sports/team?
My kiddos are ages 12-26 so I wouldn't want to do anything too young but I like the idea of having some consistency in the classroom...
We are in the same room for pretty much everything, that means all day-every day and I also don't want it to be overwhelming.
on another note....
anyone else do this??? hehe:)

Hey Rachel, hope you are having a good summer! I like the idea of doing blues in a classroom. I think they are tranquil and calming, plus you can make them feminine, masculine, or neutral. I start teaching summer school next week, too! I am working with a student with Down Syndrome. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

I like the Sports theme. There is a lot of clipart out there with girls and boys playing sports & you can play upon the teamwork aspect of it. I like your picture! That's so true- I usually end up checking my emails at the beach!! :)

I have middle schoolers so I know what you mean about trying to keep it age appropriate. I personally like a color scheme because I can be ADHD when it comes to committing to a specific theme. Mine is going to be blue with lime green accents. Can't wait to see what you decide! Hope you're enjoying summer!
Rachel,
I love your blog for it's upbeat attitude. You are wonderful and I am giving you the Versatile Blogger Award. Stop by my blog and check it out.
Have fun at summer school! Community and job activities sounds like fun! Will you have your same students?
I am also trying to figure out my classroom "theme" for next year. I have 9-14 year olds so I can't go too young or cutsey either. I'm thinking pirates...North Star has a cool pirates set that's not "cute" at all and my guys would think is cool. But I don't know...
From your choices, I like blues or sports the best!
