The saddest thing

Hi friends.

I am writing to you with the heaviest of hearts and pretty much at a complete loss for words. On Friday morning I received a phone call that one of my students had passed away. I won't go into details but it was a shock to me.

Truthfully, I am at a loss for words.

I need positive thoughts and prayers as I head back to school tomorrow. (I was absent on Friday and the death has not been discussed at school but it will be Monday)

I know this blogging community is amazing and everyone I work with is amazing. I really just need positive thoughts and prayers sent my way. The next few days will be extremely difficult.

If you could just do that for me, I would appreciate it.

Dear Rachel,
What a difficult experience for you.
I am so sorry to hear this. Live your life and let the family and friends around you take care of you right now. I wish I could hug you. Unfortunately, special education teachers can have this experience more often. It is such a hard life lesson. I know you will be there for your students tomorrow and I will be thinking about you.

Oh, no. I have chills just reading about this. I have no words of wisdom. There is nothing I can say to make you feel better. But, just know that I send my thoughts and prayers to you, your colleagues, and this poor child's family.

Last year, a child in the class across the hall, was killed in a car accident a mile from the school. Our hearts were heavy for many, many months. We still talk about her all the time and keep in touch with the family. There are just no words for this. I am so sorry...

I am so sorry for your loss Rachel. We had a third grader die of brain cancer a few years ago. It was hard for everyone, but I couldn't imagine the loss felt by his parents. We can't always understand God's plan, but he now has a new angel. I'm praying for peace for your school family.

Oh, Rachel, I'm so sorry. I have had a former student pass away, but never a current student. I can only imagine how sad and overwhelmed you must feel. My thoughts and prayers are definitely with you, your staff, and especially your students as you help them understand as best they can.

Hugs to you...please let us know if we can do anything else.

Dear Lord,

Please be with Rachel as she copes and helps her students cope with such a terrible loss. Help her find the strength and words to help ease the minds of all who may not understand. Please comfort the family during this time of grief. Lift their spirits knowing that this child is now singing praises with you and the angels in heaven. Amen.

You are in my thoughts Rachel.

Rachel,

I am so sorry for your loss. Having been there, I know how you are feeling. Get strength from those around you. The other children will need your strength but you can let them see that you are sad. It will make it easier for them to express their sadness too. Sending you prayers for the next few days. They will be tough.
